Lady Diana Spencer
Principessa del Galles ed ex consorte dell’erede al trono della Gran Bretagna, Lady Diana Spencer ha messo il suo privilegiato status sociale e il suo carisma al servizio dei bisognosi di tutto il mondo. Si è costantemente impegnata per l’informazione e la lotta all’AIDS e la messa al bando della manifattura e dell’uso delle mine terrestri – conosciute come “mine antiuomo” – in Inghilterra e negli USA. A questo proposito sono note le collaborazioni con importanti personalità del calibro di Madre Teresa di Calcutta, Nelson Mandela e il Dalai Lama, per sfruttare insieme l’enorme potere mediatico perorando le più diverse cause dei diritti umani. La Principessa fu Presidente dell’Hospital for Sick Children, del Great Ormond Street Hospital e del Royal Marsden Hospital. Dopo la sua morte sono stati fondati il Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, il Sentebale – organizzazione benefica a sostegno dei bambini del Lesotho – e i figli continuano ad occuparsi delle associazioni di cui la Principessa era già membro e patrono, come The Leprosy Mission e il National AIDS Trust.
Princess of Wales and ex-wife of the Great Britain crown prince, Lady Diana Spencer has put her privileged social status and her charisma to good use for helping people in need all over the world. She has constantly committed herself fighting AIDS and spreading information about it, together with her efforts to ban the production and use of landmines in UK and USA. In the matter of this, she cooperated with important personalities like Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama, in their joint use of mass media to support human rights advocacy. The Princess was the chairman of the Hospital for Sick Children, of the Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Royal Marsden Hospital. After her death, the Diana, Princess of Whales Memorial Fund and the Sentebale – a charity organization in support of Lesotho’s children – were founded. In addition, her children still continue to support the associations of which the Princess was already a member and patron, as The Leprosy Mission and the National AIDS Trust.
