Annie Lennox
Ever since the early 1990s, the Scottish she-singer has been actively committing herself to charity funds raising, having recourse to art as a tool for fighting AIDS. It was in 1999 that the artist donated the intakes of a whole tour to two international humanitarian organisations, namely Amnesty International and Greenpeace, both of which she has always publicly been referred to a fervent backer. Since 2007 Annie Lennox has been involved as an official supporter to such campaigns as 46664, TAC, SING and Mothers2Mothers, which demand rights to instruction, and health assistance for all those plagued by HIV virus in South Africa. In 2008, she was assigned The Red Cross Humanitarian Award by the International Red Cross and in 2012 she is appointed Goodwill Ambassador by the authoritative UNESCO. Annie does also sustain the Burma Campaign UK, an N.G.O. that promotes democracy and development in Myanmar. In 2011, Annie Lennox was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for her “tireless charity campaigns and championing of humanitarian causes”.
